Client: Balfour Beatty
Salford Royal Hospital is part of the ‘Northern Batch’ scheme; which comprises both Salford Royal Hospital and Tameside General Hospital.
The new development saw 36,000 m2 of new accommodation and also the refurbishment of existing buildings; providing vastly improved facilities for patients, visitors and staff. The buildings were planned to complement the existing estate and combine the retained buildings, within an overall site master plan, providing modern medical facilities for patients.
The Munnelly Group provided a full logistics package to Balfour Beatty for the Salford Royal Hospital; ranging from waste management to security. As the refurbishment took place, it was crucial that the waste coming in and out of the site was being audited correctly and met full legislative laws. We compiled and issued weekly reports to the Client to showcase this, ensuring that the waste had no environmental impact.
Additional work involved the construction of a new Education Centre; including lecture theatres, a library, 30 seminar/training rooms and numerous interview rooms. A new main entrance was created in Eccles Old Road, giving the public easier access to the Hospital. A new entrance for cars was also created with redesigned junctions to help with traffic congestion, as well as a brand new multi-storey car park being built alongside the M602.
