| Vehicle Holding Zones (VHZ) can play a key
role in the success of the delivery management system if
utilized, as it takes congestion away from the city centre and
the project gates. All deliveries are advised to arrive for
their slot at the VHZ where they are received by the VHZ Traffic
Marshal. Unbooked deliveries are either held until slots are
available or turned away.
Correctly booked deliveries are held whilst the VHZ marshal
radios the Site Traffic Marshal with delivery details and plant
requirements. When the delivery zone is clear, the vehicle is
cleared to proceed with laminated gate indicator in the
windscreen for on site direction. All deliveries other than just
in time deliveries must first arrive at the VHZ. Vehicles
arriving directly to site will be turned away or given
directions to the VHZ to book in and await their delivery slot.
The benefits include:
- Reduced set up costs
- Alleviate traffic congestion to the project
- Minimize vehicle movements
- Reduce CO2 emissions
- Increased flexibility
