Located in the City of London, Plantation Place is an office and retail development that takes its name from the previous building ‘Plantation House’, once the world’s most recognized centre of the tea trade. 

The Plantation Place development comprises of two buildings.  The larger itself, known as Plantation Place, is built along Fenchurch Street and has 15-storeys and 3 basement levels.  The total internal area above ground is 78,300 m2 and includes 2,300 m2 of retail at ground level.  The second building, Plantation Place South, is 10-storeys high and provides 22,500 m2 of internal area.  It is currently the headquarters for a number of insurance and consulting companies and occupies almost an entire block bounded by Fenchurch Street, Mincing Land and Rood Lane.  On the other side of Rood Lane, is where the 160 metre skyscraper 20 Fenchurch Street is situated.

Constructed in 2004, the building is 68 metres high with a central focal point of a 43 metre tall south facing main atrium.  Plantation Place was constructed with the highest design and environmental standard and is acclaimed as being an important asset for British Land.  Munnelly Logistics worked on the management contract with Lend Lease on the 2nd phase of the shell and core of Plantation Place.  Subsequently, the team also worked on the fit out with Bovis Interiors due to their success on the shell and core phase.

With any City of London project, the traffic/delivery management was crucial in ensuring minimum disruption to the busy area.  With the access routes situated off Mincing Lane a strict traffic management procedure had to be implemented.  This included road closures, one-way operation and traffic light control.  Traffic management plans were updated on a regular basis and included traffic light systems with pedestrian protection.  This was managed to a high standard and was recognized by the City of London Consider Contractor’s gold award for the project team.  Other aspects of the logistics package included vertical transportation (hoists and loading platforms), fire management, deliver coordination and builders work.
